The paati — the open rest pavilion of Newari settlements — is one of the valley's oldest pieces of public architecture. This design gives a community that tradition back: a brick-and-timber paati with a tiled lean roof, set in a hexagonal stone-paved courtyard with bench seating, low brick walls, garden beds, and lamp posts for the evening.
It is deliberately modest, buildable with local materials and local masons, and designed to serve everyone from morning card players to evening tea circles.
Scope: design and visualisation of the pavilion and courtyard, with a walkthrough film for community consultation.
